Fire Academy Overview


Course Description:


Travis County Emergency Services District 1 prepares you for success as an entry-level firefighter. This is a 19-week program consisting of 16 weeks asynchronous online training, 1 weeklong holiday break, and 2 weeks of on-site, in-person field application training.. Our cadets must excel academically, demonstrate exceptional teamwork and leadership skills, and establish professional behavior.


The  program meets or exceeds all requirements set by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) and State Firefighter and Fire Marshal Association (SFFMA).


Prerequisites:


Applicants for the Travis County Emergency Service District must meet the following requirements:


  • Be a high school graduate or have passed the GED test.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Create a FIDO account here: https://auth.tcfp.texas.gov/account/login and provide your FIDO pin number                                        .
  • Complete and submit your Participant Enrollment Agreement to include:
  • A color copy of your driver's license or a form of government or state issued identification which will be used for background check.
  • A copy of your high school diploma or GED completion. College transcripts are also acceptable as proof of high school completion.
  • Pay the $100.00 non-refundable and non-transferable application fee, which is included int he $3,000.00 course tuition fee.


A representative from Travis County Emergency Services District 1 will review your application and contact you if you've been cleared to complete your registration process and pay the balance of your tuition.
